BIOGRAPHY

Sarke is a metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 2008. The band has released five studio albums and is currently signed to Norwegian record label Indie Recordings.

Sarke formed in 2008 when Thomas “Sarke” Bergli (KholdTulus) decided to make a solo album. In November 2008 Sarke recorded the tracks for the album with keyboardist Anders Hunstad, produced by Lars-Erik Westby. Ted “Nocturno Culto” Skjellum (Darkthrone, ex-Satyricon) joined Sarke and provided vocals for the debut album, titled Vorunah, released on April 6, 2009 via Indie Recordings. In 2009 drummer Asgeir Mickelson and guitarist Terje “Cyrus” Andersen joined the band as live members. In 2010 Steinar Gundersen joined Sarke as their second guitar player. In 2009 and 2010 the band played at several festivals such as Wacken Open Air (with the guest appearance of Thomas Gabriel Fischer), Inferno Festival, Hole in the Sky, Party.San Open Air, Brutal Assault and Ragnarök Festival. After the festivals Mickelson, Cyrus and Gundersen became full-time members of the band.

On April 15, 2011 Sarke released a new album, Oldarhian, via Indie Recordings.

On September 20, 2013 the band released their third studio album, titled Aruagint, via Indie Recordings.

Sarke’s sound can be described as a blend of black metal and thrash metal, that incorporates doom metal, death metal and punk elements. According to the band, they are influenced by ’70s rock, ’80s speed metal and ’90s black metal. They are inspired by bands like MayhemSlayerDarkthroneCeltic FrostBlack SabbathCandlemassDeathMotörhead and Kreator.

Aruagint is the third album by Norwegian black/thrash metal band Sarke. It was released September 20, 2013 via Indie Recordings.

On April, 2013 it was announced that Sarke would have released their third album Aruagint on May 24, 2013, and that the artwork was created by Maxime Taccardi. Anyway, it was announced that the release date had been postponed and that the album would be released in 2014.

On August 28, 2013 it was announced that the new release date was September 20, 2013 for Norway, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and September 23, 2013 for the rest of the world.

Oldarhian is the second album by Norwegian black/thrash metal band Sarke. It was released April 15, 2011 via Indie Recordings.

On October 18, 2010, Sarke, this time with a full line-up, entered the studio, always with producer Lars-Erik Westby. On February, 2011, it was announced that the new album, titled Oldarhian, would be released on April 15, 2011.

On April 19 there was the release party in Oslo for Oldarhian, featuring special guests Insidious Disease.

Vorunah is the debut album by Norwegian black/thrash metal band Sarke. It was released April 6, 2009 via Indie Recordings.

In 2008 Thomas “Sarke” Bergli, drummer for Khold, decided to form a solo project. Sarke contacted Darkthrone vocalist/guitarist Ted “Nocturno Culto” Skjellum and in November of the same year they entered the studio and recorded Vorunah. In February, 2009 it was announced that Sarke signed with Norwegian record label Indie Recordings.
