HUORA is a crossover punk band from Tampere that combines metal and punk in their music, founded in 2015.
The band consists of founder and guitarist Paavo Pekkonen, bassist Ere Manninen, drummer Saku Sahlstedt and singer Anni Lötjönen.
Huora is Lötjönen‘s first band and bassist Ere Manninen had only been playing bass for three months before joining the band. The idea of the band name originated from Pekero, Ere‘s father, who told him that ‘the punk band should be called Huora.’
Creation of a band:
The idea of Huora came about as an inner joke of Pekkonen‘s buddies. The band had some opportunities that led to live shows and song recording, but the band finally came to fruition when Pekkonen, who was the band’s drummer at first, became the guitarist upon a second member leaving the band. Pekkonen‘s guitar playing made the band’s style more aggressive, as it has remained since. Anni Lötjöön became the band’s full-time singer when she returned to Finland in May 2015, after having been away in South America for half a year.
The band became more visible to the public’s attention with the release of the “Kaikki uuniin” EP and the “Kovia ja kiljua” music video. The song rose to Spotify’s 50th most virulent in song list 8. In the fall of 2016, the band signed a record deal with Stupido Records. The single “The Sorcerer” was released on November 18, 2016 along with a music video. Recording of the band’s first full-length studio album, Hukutaan paskaan, was completed in December 2016, and the album was released on March 24, 2017.
