AMORPHIS: Tales From The Thousand Lakes, 25 Years Later

On this day, July 12, 1994, Amorphis released arguably their magnum opus, Tales From The Thousand Lakes. A diverse change from their previous works; the (also) influential death metal sounds of The Karelian Isthmus, Tales would incorporate the melodic and keyboard driven sounds the band would later become known for.

Featuring tracks such as Into Hiding, Black Winter Day and The Castaway, Tales would become Amorphis‘ most famous and well-beloved album, very influential within the growing Finnish metal scene. Amorphis quickly became a household name doing tours all over the world, not bad for a couple of kids!

In 2014, Amorphis celebrated their 20th anniversary of Tales with a world-wide tour including a stop at Maryland Deathfest, playing the album in it’s entirety. Cheers! And here’s to a very, happy birthday!
